How did we
come up with all of our data? Well, we won’t give you all our information, but here are the sources for our information. Based on numbers provided by the National Recycling Coalition & the EPA, we can
assume the following:
One ton of recycled steel saves:
•642 kWh of electricity.
•76 gallons of oil.
•10.9 million Btu’s of energy.
•4 cubic yards of landfill space.
One ton of recycled aluminum saves:
•14,000 kWh of electricity.
•1,663 gallons of oil.
•237.6 million Btu’s of energy.
•10 cubic yards of landfill space.
One tonof recycled paper saves:
•4100 kilowatts of energy
•3.2 cubic yards of landfill space
•60 pounds of air pollution.
One ton of recycled plastic saves:
•5,774 kWh of electricity.
•685 gallons of oil.
•98 million BTUs of energy.
•30 cubic yards of landfill space
By combining these numbers with our annual recycling numbers and the amount of product that was repurposed or resold, we are able to come up with our estimates for the environmental impact that we make as a company.
